Phyllis Sinclair
My role as a performer, speaker/knowledge keeper is most satisfying as it is a means to inform, educate, and advocate for equality and inclusion for indigenous peoples in Canada. Utilizing cultural language, ways of knowing, legends and stories, and life experience, I demonstrate how these cultural artifacts form who we are; artifacts that make us different, yet unique so that we can learn to value these differences and move forward together under a positive and cooperative light. My goal is to reduce conscious, and more importantly, unconscious biases.
“The power to shape the future belongs to all of us. I am excited to connect with people who are transformative thinkers, working togetherto create a just and inclusive world for the good of us all. I would like to set more globally-directed goals, set better markers of success, better tools to mentor emerging artists involved in social-equity.”
