Grow Local, Grow Equal: Status of the Musician in Türkiye

40% of female musicians have experienced exclusion, harassment, or censorship due to their stage personas. In comparison, 27.1% of men reported similar experiences. The rate of discrimination against LGBTQ+ musicians based on their stage personas is even higher, reaching 53.8%.

With Grow Local, Grow Equal: Status of the Musician in Türkiye, Kreşendo has released its first comprehensive research report on the music industry in Türkiye. Since 2021, the independent music institution has been working to transform music into a space of expression, inspiration, and discovery for all. Known until now for its festivals, orchestra projects, and talent development programs, Kreşendo has actively sought to build fair and inclusive structures within the industry. This first research-based publication marks an expansion of its efforts, grounding them in intellectual inquiry and shedding light on a new dimension of its mission to reshape the music ecosystem.

"We dedicate this report to all musicians who earnestly and persistently follow the path of their own stories through music; to those who keep on searching for ways to sing together; and to those whose voices live on in our hearts, even if they are no longer among us."
