Melafestivalen
Since 2001 Mela Festival in Oslo has been an annual feast of music, dance, performances and culinary tastes from all continents. Open air City Hall Square as the festival’s venue, community ownership, volunteers’ efforts, grants from Arts Council Norway and Oslo municipality make the festival free and accessible to all.
Mela Festival’s venue is dedicated to International, as well as young, emerging and local artists. For Mela the highlight is also the kids' area, a festival within the festival, where they can take part in craft activities, music workshops, face painting, theatre etc.
The festival’s motto is ‘Equality in diversity, diversity for equality’.
