SkyBridge

SkyBridge is a global music collective founded in Boston in 2013 by Japanese composer and vocalist Utako Toyama, a graduate of Berklee College of Music, under the motto "We look different, we ALL smile the same." Through performances, participatory workshops, school tours and flash mobs, SkyBridge uses music as a practical tool for intercultural understanding, and its original songs promote diversity, equity and world peace.

SkyBridge has brought together musicians from 50 countries and regions, including Grammy-winning artists Victor Wooten and Mark Walker, and has worked in the US, Japan, Kenya, Uganda, Croatia and Lithuania. Highlights include the Women Musicians Network concert at Berklee Performance Center, the Hiroshima Nagasaki Peace Memorial Concert in Boston, an LGBTQ flash mob in Boston, and workshop tours of music colleges across Japan. Its founder received the Martin Luther King Artistry Award at Berklee and the Hiroshima Award (2022) for her peace work through music. SkyBridge is now based in London.
