Melike Şahin

Singer-songwriter Melike Şahin launched her solo career in 2017, quickly rising to fame with powerful hits like Bi’ Fırlatsam, Deli Kan, and Tutuşmuş Beraber. Her debut album, Merhem (2021), amassed billions of streams, solidifying her status as a modern-day diva. Known for her spellbinding stage presence, she has captivated audiences worldwide, from intimate venues to major festivals. In the summer of 2022, she set the Roskilde Festival ablaze before embarking on her highly acclaimed first European tour.

Her second album, AKKOR (2024), is her most focused and complete work to date. Recorded live in London with producer Martin Terefe (London Brew, Buika, Jamie Cullum), AKKOR features a stellar lineup, including guitarists Dave Okumu and violinist Raven Bush, as well as Sterling Campbell (David Bowie) on drums, Glen Scott (Eric Bibb), and Nikolaj Torp Larsen on keyboards. Bringing an international feel to her heart-rending performances, AKKOR Tour started with a sold-out performance at EartH London for the EFG London Jazz Festival. Şahin was also noticed by the Recording Academy (GRAMMYs), which featured a mesmerizing performance of the record’s second single “Ortak” as part of its Global Spin series.

Melike Şahin’s music blends melancholic Anatolian folk influences, disco hedonism, pop smarts, and cinematic soundscapes. Her sumptuous and provocative music draws on the spirit of Anatolian pop and folk to capture the defiant tone of progressive creativity in contemporary Turkey. Her music thrives in the tension between contrasts—old and new, tradition and rebellion, intimacy and grandeur. The incisive nature of her music has become synonymous with the women’s movement in Turkey, with her lyrics adorning banners at International Women’s Day protests and Pride celebrations.
