Kirke Karja​ Quartet

Kirke Karja​ graduated from the bachelor programme in classical piano under Tanel Joamets and Ivari Ilja, as well as the master’s programme in jazz as a student of Kristjan Randalu at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. She studied composition with Raul Sööt and Margo Kõlar and practised free improvisation with Anto Pett. She is currently continuing her studies as a doctoral candidate at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and works as a freelance musician. Karja received the Young Jazz Talent award in 2014, issued by Jazzkaar and the Estonian Jazz Union. She has a leading position in several collectives including the nine-member group Pae Kollektiiv and the Kirke Karja Quartet among others. With these two groups she has also released albums with her original compositions in 2014 and 2016. She also performed with her quartet at 12points festival.
